One of my favorite artists. Astrix (Avi Shmailov) was born in Russia in 1981 and grew up in Tel Aviv is a Psychedelic Trance DJ. He began recording music under the name Astrix in 1997. Astrix trance music is known its solid, driving bass lines and ascending melodies. It is very uplifting and, as far as psychedelic trance goes, fairly “hard” and is played during sunrise and the morning at outdoor trance parties. He is considered as one of the top DJ’s in the world by DJMag
Cosmosis’ first album – the seminal Cosmology – is widely regarded as a classic in the Goa Trance genre. Cosmosis is considered as one of the top Trance artists in the world
Goa Gil is an American-born musician, is one of the founders of the goa trance and psytrance movement in electronic dance music. He grew up in San Francisco, and feeling that the San Francisco musical scene was falling apart, he took off in 1969, going first to Amsterdam and then to India, settling in the hippie mecca of Goa. Here he discovered the sadhus, and himself became a Sadhu, Baba Mangalanand.
During the early 1980s, Gil and his friends soon gathered some equipment and started DJing and playing live music all night long on the Goa beaches. The mix of outdoor electronic dance parties with Eastern mystical and spiritual overtones came to define the aesthetic of the psytrance movement. For Gil, dance is an active form of meditation and the use of trance music is a way to “redefine the ancient tribal ritual for the 21st century”
