A crescent shaped bay, white sand peacefully merging into the sea, swaying coconut
palms - Palolem is picture perfect. It is also known as ‘Paradise Beach’. The beach
is about a mile long and it provides seclusion and idyllic scenery. It has little
wooded islands to the north and a village behind the beach.
Palolem is about 70 km from Panjim, situated in Goa's southern most taluka (district)
of Canacona or Chaudi. If you enter Goa from neighboring state Karnataka, this is
the first popular beach you will come across. |

Just savor the silence. Palolem does not just offer you seclusion; it also gives
you that much needed silence. Swimming is very safe at Palolem, except during high
tide. There are lot of eating shacks at the beach, serving great seafood to booze.
There are several bars at the beach; few of them open till late, so you won't miss
the nightlife. |

Some sight seeing
The Island and Dolphin Spotting trips
At the northern end of the beach there is a fresh water stream and across the stream
lies a small undeveloped island that can be accessed by just swimming across during
low tide or taking a ferry. There is a rocky terrain which is fun exploring. At
the island, apart from the usual frolicking around, you can snorkel. You can spot
some sea urchins, sea mussels, sea cucumbers and groupers. Sunset from this island
is a sight not to be missed.

The other attractions on this beach are the dolphin cruises and fishing trips which
are available at reasonable prices.
Excursion
Take a small excursion to the nearby Patnem-Colomb beach which is just fifteen minutes
by walk. Colomb has just a little cove but the Vaddo of Patnem has a kilometer long
beach. Secluded and untouched. Also stop by Butterfly beach where you can have the
entire beach to yourself.
FYI..Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) was jogging on this beach in Bourne Supremacy.
